And Suddenly, December...

Wishing you Peace and Joy
However and Wherever
You may find them.

The Dept. will be back up and running in January.  Until then, stay warm, stay safe, and take some time for yourself each day to rest, refuel, and read something Smart.

  2. Dear Nance...You urged us to read something smart. That may be difficult until you return in January..
Here's hoping for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year for you and your family...

    1. Nancy--Oh, bless you! I know you'll be spending a Happy Christmas with your big, wonderful, loving, and terrific family. That makes me happier than you know.

Stay warm over there! I promise to do the same (it's snowing here like crazy ;-< ), and I'm planning some smart stuff for January already. XO

  3. Dearest Nance— Wishing You and Yours, Zydrunas and The Sidebar Bunnies good times and good cheer during the hols. And the same to all who enjoy 'hanging out' at the Department. Cuz this year, especially, I think we all deserve it! Catherine XXOO

    1. Ortizzle--You said it! 2017 needs to be shown the door with Joy, Warmth, and Relief. It certainly didn't arrive with any of those things, and we owe it to ourselves to celebrate our Endurance.

(Thanks for reminding me to change out my Sidebar Bunnies. Sigh. Details, details...they escape me.)

    2. Oh, such fun Christmas bunnies! (I should point out, though, that I was perfectly content with the Thanksgiving bunnies and thought they would do quite well for Christmas, too.) I do enjoy all of your sidebar captions and clicky bits to read, and I'm sure a lot of other DoN readers do, too, even if we don't often comment on them. :-D

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. I hope that you feel great and up to celebrating.

    1. Gina--Exactly! As I said, Peace & Joy However and Wherever...! We love to create little Moments on the Dept. tree here and there for fun.

I'm having some ups and downs, but I'm doing what I need to in order to have a Happy Christmas. The boys and Zydrunas will be here! We'll have good food and great wine.

You must let me know how you and your family are doing, too, and if you'll be at the beach. XO

    2. We are doing pretty good, did you get my email, dearest? I answered your fire email, but didn't hear anything back. In that email, I went into great detail! Let me know if you need me to resend it!

We actually just came back from Vegas, because we are heathens. We left on Christmas Day after opening presents in the morning and surprised my daughter, who has been wanting to stay in a hotel for forever.

    3. Gina--I did get your reply and was so happy to hear that you were all well away from the fires. I know how busy you are, so I didn't want to burden you with correspondence. I'm happy to reply now that I know you are anticipating it.

What a terrific gift for your daughter! She'll remember it forever--the Christmas you all suddenly picked up and ran away on an adventure Just For Her. It's the best.

  7. Merry Christmas! This year is so strange - I'm not sleeping in my childhood bedroom & hanging out at my dad's house. Of course, I'll see him, but it's different. I was joking that I needed for Mike and me to have a sleepover.

    1. Bug--It is a strange year indeed, and for so so many reasons. I think we will find our Joy regardless of it all, as you have, by remembering to laugh and Getting On With It. Merry Christmas to you, too.

  8. Merry Christmas, Nance! This has not been a typical year in any way. We are enjoying a lovely Christmas but I'm definitely ready for 2018 (well, after a trip to Key West with our family--a much-needed vacation for sure).

  10. I hope your Christmas was merry, full of delightful company, and yummy dishes. Wishing you and yours -
A Safe, Healthy, and Happy New Year. Hibernating a bit and napping a lot, during these dreary and unbearably cold Winter's days, are completely acceptable as we age, lol...
Until we convene in 2018, try to stay warm and comfy.

    1. Denise Fortney--Brrr! It has been brutally cold, hasn't it? We have been enduring this polar vortex as best we can (Dearest Canadians: Thank you, but really, you shouldn't have. Please do keep this weather for yourselves.). The cats keep sitting in front of the empty fireplace and looking over their shoulders with such baleful and downright impatiently irked expressions.

Trying not to sit too much is almost a job in itself. See you in January, when we are hopefully at least--the Very Least--in the 20s.
