Things I Can And Do Drink
1. Water
2. Decaf Coffee
3. Herbal Tea
4. Cider Hot Toddy
5. Champagne
6. Martini
7. French 75
8. Wine
9. Some Beer
10. Bloody Mary
Looking at this list, one may think, 'Wow. Nance is a boozy lady.' I wish. In reality, I am a cheap date because it's rare that I have more than one cocktail or craft beer. My tolerance for alcohol is laughably low. I'm a small person, and even after one sip, I start feeling it.
This lady is the most hydrated person in the world. I drink water constantly. It is always at my side. I had to switch to decaf coffee shortly after I retired because it started making me jittery, and I didn't need the caffeine to keep me going through the day anymore. Now I drink coffee because I love it.
Last night I was chilly and exhausted after a day spent with Theo (so worth it!). I warmed up a huge cup of cider with a cinnamon stick, a clove, and a shot of Canadian Maple liqueur. I put myself under a blanket, put my heating pad on high, and luxuriated in front of Netflix with Piper snoring on my lap and the toddy cozying me up from the inside. Highly recommend.
What are your go-to drinks these days? Have you had to give any up? Do you belch like a teen boy in a contest?

I don't do caffeine and since most non-caffeinated pop is disgusting (like when did Sprite start to taste like that?), I mostly just drink water, Gatorade Zero, and tea these days. What has my life become? I used to drink Diet Coke like it was my job and I still miss it. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteNGS--Rick is also off caffeine and occasionally drinks caffeine-free Diet Coke. He doesn't complain about the taste, but after a week or so of drinking any soda, he does complain about his stomach and bloating. I think it's the artificial sweetener and, of course, the CO2.
DeleteAs far as your existential question, I feel you. I ask that every single day. CAPS LOCK SIGH.
I drink diet coke like it's my job. I also drink milk, water, black tea (regular or decaf ) . I don't like alcohol or coffee. I'll drink the occasional orange or apple juice if I'm sick. But I'm not into fruity stuff in general. I belch daintily - I have two daughter who burp like teen boys - they get it from their father.
ReplyDeleteme--Oh gosh, I have never been able to drink milk--just plain milk. Ugh. My husband actually asked for several pitchers of it at our wedding table for him and a couple of the groomsmen.
DeleteHot black tea was always given to us as kids whenever we were sick. Now I can't stand it. That's why I can only drink herbal teas. How do you belch daintily? I just assumed that Belch was a word that denoted a big, noisy burp.
Cheers, Nance!
ReplyDeleteWater and Herbal teas are my go tos. (Should probably drink more water like you.)
I drink everything else (except the coffee) too, but so rarely. I love toddies! I really do think they're therapeutic and will make/request one for A/me if we're even slightly under the weather.
maya--I think toddies are very therapeutic. I do hesitate--as you do--to call them medicinal, but holistically, maybe we can.
DeleteI really do love the taste and aroma of coffee. There are a lot of coffee snobs out there, but I'm not one of them. I drink grocery shelf decaf coffee, drip-brewed, with cream and real sugar. Sometimes I add some vanilla extract, sometimes I add a few spices to the brew basket.
Rick is a die-hard English Breakfast or Earl Grey drinker. I don't know how we get on at all.
My latest obsession in the drinking arena is V-8's Energy Drink orange pineapple flavored. 50 calories and the equal to drinking one cup of coffee but is made with tea and one serving of fruit or veggies. I gave up Coke for this. I also drink two cups of coffee in the morning, water through the day and milk or cocoa at night. It doesn't take much to make me feel off balance with hard drinks and wine so I rarely have any.
ReplyDeleteJean--I had no idea that V-8 was in the energy drink arena. Orange pineapple used to be my favourite ice cream when I was a kid. I bet it's a great pick me up for you.
DeleteMy tolerance for alcohol has gotten very limited, too. I used to have wine all the time, but now not so often. I just don't feel like it, and the spectre of a migraine scares me off.
Good for you, giving up Coke. I'm leery of energy drinks, but I'm sure you've done your research or checked with your doctor.
Years ago when I was seeing a neurologist for my migraines, we tried Topamax. Shortly after going on it, I was visiting my parents and thinking they had bought Pepsi instead of Coke because it "tasted weird," never thinking it was due to the medicine. A month or two later, I was googling side effects of it, and found people in forums complaining that soda was all flat-tasting and odd when they were on Topamax, and I said ah-HA. But my neurologist scoffed. (That's not why I stopped seeing him, but it didn't help.)
ReplyDeleteI drink a ton of water, all day long. I like coffee with flavored creamer, or a latte, but I don't need it to survive as some people do. I don't regularly drink anything, though in hot weather, I like Trader Joe's Watermelon Cucumber Cooler, which to me tastes fresh and fruity without tasting like either of those things.
ccr--Your neurologist must not have been up on his reading. For me, not only does Topamax make things taste weird, it makes carbonation seem supercharged, like extra foamy in my mouth. It can also make carbonated things taste very metallic. Topamax is a tough med to get used to.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear that you have migraines, too. They're the devil. I hope you've found something that truly works for you and that keeps them at bay.
Rather than buy flavoured creamers, I add spices to my brew basket. I like half n half in my coffee, so that's my "hack".
I don’t drink alcohol much but I love, absolutely love, a good apple cider with some Buttershot Schnapps in it. It is especially delicious warm, and tastes like a buttery, caramel apple. I’ll have that delicious concoction a couple of times a year in the fall, otherwise I’m usually drinking water or Diet Coke. I went through a phase of drinking coffee but now I can’t seem to tolerate it. One of the hazards of aging, I guess.
ReplyDeleteJenseydun--Yes! I love that combo. We are currently out of Buttershot, so I used the maple. That stuff is so good.
DeleteCoffee can be acidic, and that's a reason why my husband can't drink it. Some people say that adding a generous pinch of salt gets rid of the acidity, but I don't know....
It sounds like you had a perfect evening. I drink so much water that I get nervous about overhydrating. My usual intake is around a gallon a day. Other than that, I have one cup of coffee in the morning and an occasional beer or two in the evening. I like a nice dry champagne on special occasions. That about covers it for me.
ReplyDeleteMartha--It was a very restful and relaxing evening. I almost nodded off before bed.
DeleteI think you have to drink an enormous amount of water to overhydrate, plus you live in a warm climate, so you probably perspire a bit, too. I think champagne makes any occasion special, even if it's just a nice evening relaxing on the patio or enjoying a favourite show on tv. I'd drink more champagne, but Rick is not a fan of sparkling wine. I'm a huge fan.
I should probably cut out caffeine while on pred but I don't... I am drinking a lot of coffee these days because it's my #1 comforting beverage. I also drink copious amounts of water. My treat drink is a mango flavored bubbly water and if I am still feel chilled after drinking coffee, I make a decaf herbal cinnamon tea. I've mostly cut out alcohol except for very special occasions - my drink of choice is a crisp sav blanc, but I also love a French 75! I often order a fancy NA cocktail at restaurants. They are often as expensive as a cocktail would be but I figure it's worth it to have an elevated drink experience.
ReplyDeleteLisa--I find coffee incredibly comforting, too. As soon as it starts perking and I can smell it, I just feel cozy and comfy. And I love cinnamon as a comfort spice; I add it to my coffee. Highly recommend Lipton Stress Therapy herbal tea--it has cinnamon, chamomile, and lavender.
DeleteI love a good New Zealand sauv blanc, very cold. Have you had a French 75 made with Hendrick's gin? It really elevates it. I normally don't care for gin all that much, but Hendrick's made me a convert.
I drink ginger tea most mornings, although today I had good old English tea. I also love Constant Comment, spiced Chai, water of course. My evening tipple is champagne mixed with cider or cranberry juice. Yum! Hate beer, can't drink liquor except in very, very small amounts. At Christmas, I often make homemade Kahlua to give as gifts, but only drink a little of it. We usually have juice with breakfast, tomato, grape or cider. I have never drank much soda or carbonated beverages. I do like iced tea if not too sweet, and love iced coffee.
ReplyDeleteG Sue--I tried, but I never could get a taste for iced coffee. It just tastes wrong to me. Coffee should be hot! I can't get past that mindset.
DeleteMy son Jared is big on making all kinds of champagne cocktails. He recently mixed up cider, champagne, and a bit of basil. It sounded wrong to me, but he loved it.
I'm so intrigued by you making kahlua. What liquor do you use for the base?
I drink a ton of water - like, 3-4 litres - every day, ditto coffee. Although I don't drink 3-4 litres of coffee, that would be insane. But I do make a pot of drip every morning and I enjoy that. I am not a black tea drinker but I do enjoy an herbal tea from time to time. I definitely love my wine and cocktails, but I limit those to 1-2x a week (although not 1-2 DRINKS a week, I usually have more than one drink if I'm drinking). This time of year I like a nice thick red, but in the summer I go Riesling or sometimes even rose! I became obsessed with Aperol spritz when we were in Italy 2024, and at the same time I got into limoncello and Amaro. Yum! Well, it's Monday morning and I've got a few days to go before Friday cocktail hour, but now I'm thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteNicole--I don't drink alcohol that often anymore. In the summertime I do more often because patio and boating. I think summer just lends itself more to cocktails, don't you? Rick would love it if we had cocktail hour every day year round.
DeleteI get the urge for robust reds this time of year. I love a good merlot with a nice cocoa finish or a cab sauv with some spice and a bit of oak/cedar. Mmmm.
Do you like a big chill on your Riesling? I have to have it icy cold, and I prefer a dry or off-dry Riesling.
Yes! Ice cold Riesling, preferably if the bottle has been in the freezer for 20 mins or so!
DeleteI drink a lot of water. I also enjoy black tea with Splenda and 2% milk in the morning, and Coke Zero in the mid day, and white wine in the evening. I love a good Bloody Mary, but mine needs to be a virgin, I don’t care for the flavor with vodka. I love red wine and coffee, but neither agree with me if I go overboard, so I don’t. I’ll have a glass of red if that’s what’s available, and especially if everyone is oohing and aahing about it. But beyond that I risk a horrid sinus headache the next day. Coffee has to come with a lot of milk, or else my stomach gets angry, so I only order it at Starbucks, and I get a latte.
ReplyDeleteI am a REALLY good burper. My sisters are as well. My brother? Meh. My dainty daughter? Excellent. I’m so glad to have passed that habit down to her. We can shake the house.
*talent* not habit.
DeleteJ--Have you ever tried a bloody Mary with a flavoured vodka, like 3 Olives Cucumber? I'm just trying to help you get a buzz.
DeleteYour sinus headache from reds might be preempted if you take a decongestant or use a nasal spray before you drink. Reds have a lot of histamines. Pinot noirs are the safest reds since those are usually younger reds and spend less time on the skins.
Glad to hear that strong belching is a family trait among the women. Why be shy? Strong women make strong statements.
I never learned to like coffee, so my main drink is water. I would drink tea in the mornings - I have all the necessary components at home, and usually a kettle and tea at work - but it's usually too many steps for my ADHD brain, so I only drink it if someone else makes it for me, or in brief stretches where I force myself to make it. It does feel a little strange drinking water first thing in the morning, but I take medication that makes my eyes and mouth dry, so my water bottle comes with me everywhere. I have one Diet Pepsi a day, one gin and tonic or one beer on Tuesday bar nights, and a few drinks every couple of months with friends - gin and tonic, rum and diet Coke, margarita or straight tequila. I drank two big German beers at an Oktoberfest night a couple of weeks ago and did not feel well at all. I like red wine, but I get wine drunk faster than with anything else.
ReplyDeleteBibliomama--I think tea is sort of a bother, too. And tea bags are kind of gross.
DeleteMedication was/is the big motivator behind my water consumption, too. Then it became habit and a no-brainer for general good health. I love that you schedule a bar night. Probably everyone should.
I generally have a cup of coffee (well, technically half a cup) in the morning, water for much of the day, one soda fountain (preferably from McDonald's) diet Coke and a couple of glasses of wine in the evening.
ReplyDeleteGigi--My eldest son swears by fountain Diet Coke, too. When he lived alone, he used to walk to the nearby 7-11 and get a huge one every day. He still swears that it's very different and much better than the DC in cans and bottles.
DeleteDo you always drink the same kind of wine each evening, or do you mix it up, depending upon dinner, dessert, or your mood?
Nance - I'm a belcher too. It just happens, I guess? And I don't even drink carbonated beverages. I don't like caffeine, but if I'm driving long distance, I'll pack a few cokes. I mostly just drink water. I don't like coffee. I do like Irish Tea, but I generally I'm only drinking that while in Ireland - so not often. I like sweet white wines, like Riesling or Moscato. I love a good margarita (on the rocks with salt on the rim, usually strawberry). I enjoy Mike's Hard Lemonade a ton - the black cherry flavor. I also like the High Noon black cherry. I do not drink often. Maybe once a month? Tailgate season, I drink a bit more often. I'm also a cheap date, because I usually only order one drink, sometimes two. We drank apple juice for breakfast when I was a kid. I've never liked diet pop. Oh, and I drink a protein shake every morning. I keep a big jug of them in my fridge.
ReplyDeleteErnie--I like margaritas, but I have to be very careful with tequila. Very. It's unpredictable as to whether or not it will give me a migraine. I like the traditional variety, and yes, salt that rim.
DeleteI keep threatening to make smoothies for my breakfast/lunch, but I'm on an oatmeal kick right now. Cholesterol, you know.
Our bar bill would be so low!
I rarely drink booze, just usually water, tea or a strawberry smoothie, but when I do drink alcohol, I like scotch, like an Aberfeldy or Dalwhinnie. If I want something less special but still a favourite, I'll get a Guinness. Ginger beer (with lime) is pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteForgot root beer. Yum.
DeleteDB--Oh, I used to love root beer. And root beer floats. I keep threatening to try a root beer float to see if the ice cream helps soften the blow of the carbonation, but I still haven't.
DeleteI tried a very pricey, very wonderful scotch once. I asked about it, and I found out it was something like $600 a bottle. That was the end of my scotch story.
I've tried Guinness and I just don't like it. I keep trying lovely dark beers, but to no avail. Our local brewery makes a chocolate stout and a coffee stout and even a chocolate peanut butter stout. No good; can't stand any of them. But I'll keep trying all dark beers, just in case.
Coffee and water. Caffinated in the am. Decaf after that. Oh, and one shot of oj at breakfast. Belching is one thing; I would have loved a teacher who did that. My gas congretgates at the other end. And that is not, I repeat not, funny. Mostly.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about this in my comment. I have the same issue with where "gas congregates." As you said, mostly not funny at all, especially in a classroom setting! 😂
DeleteMary--LOL. No, it is NOT funny to have That Kind Of Gas. I've noticed now that it is The Sort That Comes With Age. Ugh. I vastly prefer belching.
DeleteI never did like orange juice. Always gives me a stomach ache. When I was little, I coveted Welch's Grape Juice, especially in those little glasses. Now, I don't drink fruit juice as a rule.
Most days it's usually just water, but when I want to indulge, it's one of the following:
ReplyDelete1. Root Beer (which will cause me to belch like crazy)
2. Orange Juice (pulp free because I am not a heathen)
3. Hot chocolate (heavy on the chocolate)
4. Hot apple cider
5. Frozen Mint Lemonade (randomly popular in parts of South America and the Middle East)
6. Bissap
Bissap is a cold, sweetened iced tea made from hibiscus. It's very popular throughout West Africa, though also I've randomly found it in Malaysia as roselle juice, and it's similar to agua de jamaica from Mexico, but that's usually not as sweet as I'd prefer). I like it so much that my guide in Mali remembered how much I liked it when we were in Niger and Burkina Faso, and he would recommend restaurants to me in different cities that had the best bissap. And in Sierra Leone, we even found a place that had bissap-flavored gelato, which was excellent.
Mikey--I had hibiscus tea at Panera, of all places. It was quite nice. I'm sure it was nothing like what you have and love in your many travels. Can you find a good hibiscus tea in international markets in SF?
DeleteAre you picky about your root beer? When I was growing up, we had Hires, distributed by a local company. My dad was crazy about A&W, and used to take us to the A&W drive-in, where he'd get a huge frosty mug.
Frozen mint lemonade sounds lovely. You could add a shot of limoncello or vodka in there. For guests, you know.
Oh, I really enjoy hibiscus tea as well…likely very different than what you’re describing. I like Tazo Passion tea, which is hibiscus flowers, orange peel, rose hips, cinnamon, and passion fruit. In summer if we have people over I will mix it 1/2 this tea, 1/2 lemonade. Delicious and refreshing, though maybe not sweet enough for you Mikey.
DeleteI like some pulp in my OJ, but I’m a heathen, so your statement holds water.
It's definitely very different from the hibiscus tea you've had; much sweeter and served cold. The closest thing you can find in the US would be an agua de jamaica at a Mexican restaurant, which we definitely have in SF and I'm sure you could get in NEO.
DeleteAs far as root beer, I'm not terribly picky. I like all the major brands, and I've enjoyed a lot of the smaller brands as well. I just don't like the ones that try to go for too unique of a flavor. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Though on an amusing note, for my birthday one year, I got a 5-liter mini keg of root beer, which was fun.
My Drinking Habits
ReplyDelete1. WATER. Doctors all seem to tell me I should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I don’t always hit that goal, but I think I stay plenty hydrated. Also: I don’t like running to the bathroom any more often than I have to. And in recent years, that’s a lot, lol.
2. COFFEE. But mostly in the morning. If I drink it late in the afternoon it interferes with sleep. Big time!
3. CHAMOMILE TEA. Very nice just before bed.
4. SOFT DRINKS: Don’t ever drink them. Never even liked them as a kid. All the sugar and carbonation don’t work well for my digestion.
5. ALCOHOLIC DRINKS: Wine, mostly. On rare occasions, a very dry martini (which I love and used to drink frequently, but… as the years progress and the budget shrinks, not so much.) Never been a great fan of beer. I will drink it at some social events, but it usually makes me feel kinda bloated. There has to be a little food alongside it, lol. Champagne: for New Year’s Eve and that’s about it.
BELCHING: OMG, that’s hilarious that this happened to you in the classroom. Never happened to me, but then I don’t consume any carbonated drinks. What did happen to me on occasion was the extremely embarrassing problem in the, er, opposite direction so to speak. I used to have my students do a lot of pair/group activities to practice their Spanish conversational skills, and I would patrol around the classroom to listen in and give advice or answer questions. There was more than one occasion when I had a sudden attack of the “SBDs” and had to make a quick retreat to my desk at the front of the classroom. Pretty sure they all knew it was me, but that’s a situation where, uh, laughing out loud doesn’t quite work out. 😂
So happy to hear about your day with Theo! Your after-visit remedies sound comforting and cozy. Hoping you are starting to cope better with all the nasty fatigue these days. 🥰
XXOO
Ortizzle
Ortizzle--Yikes! Not the SBDs! Listen, in a high school classroom, at least one student would loudly say, "Uh oh, Ms. D be layin' down some NASTY farts!" I'd have to have a low-key comeback that completely owned both the fart and the kid, and then we'd all move on.
DeleteThank god I never had to do that. Even when I was pregnant.
I was never a fan of beer, either, and I'm still really not. But when the local brewery moved into our side of town, I wanted to support it. And they do make some very nice beers with real fruit and spices. This summer they made a shandy with real raspberries. And they make a very good Mexican style beer that's light and has fresh lime and tajin. Am I a Beer Drinker? No, I am not. But we like to go there, meet up with the boys, and I'll drink a beer. When in Rome....
Theo expects Nana to always be Nana, and I will do my best to be that for him. It costs me, but he brings me limitless joy and love. I wouldn't call it Coping so much as it is Accepting at this stage. Each day is a little different with regard to my stamina and pain. I'm learning. Thank you, my friend. XOXO
I'm with you - I'm either drinking water or hitting the booze. Soft drinks just never made an impression on me.
ReplyDeleteI drink a ton of water, and have reluctantly accepted that I can only have one cup of coffee a day. There is some mischief afoot with the strength of the coffee and the size of the cup, but it's still just one cup.
My rule with alcohol is that I won't drink to the point where it's going to hurt, so that's no more than two drinks a night, and not every night. That's enough to have a good time without doing anything stupid.
Birchie--Your whole first line is gold. It should be on a sign in both our homes.
DeleteWe also agree about booze in quantity. There's a difference between Having A Drink and Drinking. I'm way past the Drinking stage. (Thank goodness)
I only ever drink water and Diet Sun Drop (hate coffee and alcohol - my bitter taste buds are EXTRA overdeveloped!). And now I think I might have to give up the pop because of my kidneys. I'm very very sad. I might try tea to get some caffeine, but I find that it dries my mouth out. We're in a sorry state over here in Bugland.
ReplyDeleteBug--It's the tannins in black tea that do the drying. Try switching to herbal or green tea and see if that helps. I know how tough it is to give up soda. You can do it. Grab some Crystal Light or some of those little containers of concentrate that you squirt into your water to add flavor. Pretty soon, you can add less and less and just drink icy cold water. Be kind to those kidneys!
DeleteI laughed so hard at your classroom burping.
ReplyDeleteWait, I take Topirimate too. What does soda do to you? I don't drink it too often, but once in a while I love a little ice and Coca-Cola.
I'm always carrying around a support water bottle at all times. You and I- two peas in a pod. 💜
Kari--Soda, and anything with CO2 for fermentation, tastes terribly metallic and gets super foamy in my mouth. Lucky you, still able to drink a Coke.
DeleteI always avoided drinking soda during parent-teacher conferences. Could you even imagine?
Nance, you crack me up! I love to think of you belching in the classroom! I learned something new here in your comment replies - the tannins in black tea dry out the mouth! I wondered why I always had a dry mouth after drinking tea. I love black tea, but I also love herbal. Why didn't I ever think about this before? I love cheap and weak coffee, regular and decaf, with milk or cream and some sugar free coffee syrup. I love black coffee, but it upsets my tummy. I love sparkling water. It does make me burpy though. I don't drink much. I don't like how alcohol makes me feel. I wouldn't turn down a small glass of something extra special though. If someone offered me a taste of $600 Scotch, I'd go for it!
ReplyDeleteMG--I live to serve.
DeleteBlack coffee was my go-to forever when I was teaching, mainly because I didn't have time to put all the falderal in it. Later, when I had a first period I could trust, I took the time for cream and sugar and never looked back.
I like the relaxation of booze, but not getting tipsy or drunk. And certainly not the hangover or a migraine. I know my limit.
I really hope you get a chance to try some expensive Scotch. It's very, very nice.
I have a few cups of coffee in the morning, it's my Go-To for waking up. I can't tolerate too much caffeine, so I avoid consuming anything with caffeine after 2 pm, or else I stay awake all night long. I love Arnold Palmers, especially if I go out to lunch, but again, it has to be before 2pm.
ReplyDeleteNance, I can't drink anything carbonated in public, or if we have guests around, because I belch like a sailor and it ain't pretty!
I like to have a small, kind of watered-down glass of OJ in the morning with my vitamins. It makes me feel like I'm doing something good for myself. HA
Your warm toddy, while a cat sleeps on your lap sounds divine!!
I still love my NZ Sauvignon Blanc, although I don't tolerate it as much as I used to, so I've cut down a lot.
Suz--New Zealand still makes the best Sauv Blancs, I think. I like mine icy cold. And my tolerance is way, way down as well. It's sad, but we had our moments.
DeleteI never could drink orange juice. I don't like it, and it messes with my stomach. In the morning I drink water and then my decaf, fully loaded.
Yesterday, we were at Jared and Jordan's for football Sunday. Her parents are in town, so we all got together. (We all get along famously; they're a good time.) I had ONE beer--what Jared calls a LadyBeer--a low ABV flavoured beer, this holiday spice one. After only two sips, I let out an enormous belch. My family acted like nothing even happened: Sam was next to me and merely said, "Good one, Mom". Jared's FIL was beyond astonished. Let's just say he was ready for the next one. You have to own it, Suz. You are Woman, hear you Roar/Belch!
I have to laugh, because like you, I enjoy a lot of alcoholic drinks. But seldom make it more than one, since after one, even if I have really really enjoyed it, I tend to be ready to go to bed. Right then. :-)
ReplyDeleteBridget--I hear that. Wine will make me do that, now. Pathetic, aren't we?
DeleteWater is my go to. At home, it's water filtered through my Berkey and that's important because my public water is so chlorine laden. So gross. The Berkey removes it all. I still occasionally drink a Pepsi. There was a period where I would drink caffeine-free Pepsi but I don't ever see them anywhere now. I have seen caffeine-free diet Pepsi but I would rather croak than drink that. I detest diet drinks. I used to be such a tea drinker but it always seems to bother me now, even decaffeinated, herbal, etc. I do enjoy a hot cocoa at home some. I still love a good margarita but most places don't serve a good margarita. At home, I'll sometimes make a tequila sunrise for myself. Whenever I go to wineries, I'll have about two to three glasses of wine or wine slushies during the summer.
ReplyDeleteShirley--Now I'm going to start looking for Decaf Pepsi, just to see if I find it around here. Tequila is a bit of a problem for me. It can be unpredictable as to whether or not I get a migraine or a hangover. Or very tipsy.
DeleteIn Ontario, CA, they make ice wine slushies with their famous ice wine, which is very sweet. Those are quite nice.
And yes, I drink filtered water as well. Our tap water is not very nice either.
A search shows that caffeine-free Pepsi is still available. Just not at my local stores. I could order if I wanted though. I don't need Pepsi but it still tempts me and I give myself excuses to drink it from time to time--mostly when I'm under the weather.
DeleteYou're going to chuckle but my brain went "really, Ontario, California is known for ice wine?" We flew into Ontario California to visit friends in Palm Springs once. It has taken me since you posted this reply to realize you were speaking of Ontario Canada. Sheesh! In any regard, I have never actually tried ice wine but I've heard about it and know I would absolutely love it. Now I definitely want to try it as soon as possible.
