Oh Canada! Without You, We Would Have More Room In The Cellar For Non-Alcoholic Things

Que un weekend merveilleux!
For those of you who do not read The Tie Report, where I made mention of it, (really, how could you not? It is a fashion tour de force! But, I forgive.) you may not have known that I was away on a three-day jaunt with Rick and just arrived back at the Dept. We gave in to the siren call of Niagara-on-the-Lake yet again and had another relaxing time seeing terrific theater, meeting lovely people, and discovering yet more gorgeous and tempting wines to share with you here.

Give me a day or two for re-entry into my Real Life (sigh!), and I'll introduce you to a new Niagara-on-the-Lake winery known for its commanding structural oddity as well as its line of fruit wines, and I'll take you back out to The Bench for a taste of some rieslings and reds that almost melted the Dept.'s VISA card. How on earth did we end up, after bringing back almost five cases only three months ago, bringing back another case of wine? We're hopeless.

Be back soon. And don't judge!

  2. Oh, Canada. It looks like the exchange rate is a bit more favorable than when we went in August. What did you see? (Some day we'll make it to the Shaw Festival.)

Wine. Do you prefer red or white? Never mind, I'll bring both.

    Nance,

I am happy you and Rick had a wonderful time in Canada, but I must ask you to heed the following warning.....

There is a dangerous virus being passed around electronically, orally, and by hand. This virus is called Worm-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK).

If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss, or anyone else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely.

If you should come into contact with WORK put your jacket on and take husband to the nearest Canadian winery. Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolating-Neutralizer-Extract (WINE) or Bothersome-Employer-Elimination-Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.

    That should do it.....

I am thinking that your subconscious voice has been telling you that you are preparing for one hell of an election night celebration. Obviously what goes better together than a great bottle of wine and Obama/Biden leading our country and knowing that gwb is on his way otfda ( er speak for out the fucking door asshole)

  7. halley--you know, you may be right! i have two bottles of champagne in the fridge, though, and those might just have to be first!!

    nina--tell me when!

nancy--sigh. i have been doing WAAAY too much WORK avoidance. subsequently, i absolutely MUST grade hideous awful very bad tests tonight. AT HOME. i am morose. Rick, however, is a major believer in BEER. chances are, there was much Bothersome-ing on his re-entry today, so...!

apathy lounge--darling. i now have almost SIX CASES. hell, you don't even need to bring THE GLASS.

nancy in a2--helLO! where have you BEEN?! we saw The Little Foxes. exquisite. i had forgotten that Lillian Hellman was so...Tennessee Williams-esque. it was wonderful. and yes, the exchange rate we are getting a la VISA is about $1.18.

Princess o.t.U.--oh, good. i don't mean to inspire guilt, just...awe.

  8. It's really great that you guys got in another wonderful trip, Nance! Plus, I think a case of wine is far better to store than those "non-alcoholic things"!

Love that sign in your sidebar!! ROFL Oh, LL is quite cute. (A lady just posted on our local Freecycle that she wants bags of leaves for her goat.)

  9. shirley--that bunny chewing leaves is adorable. i just wish i could make the sidebar photos bigger, but i can't figure out how. and are you supplying the goat food? she'd probably get lots more bites on her advert if she'd do the bagging--or if she just brought the goat over and let it graze!
